[Android] Game Will Not Launch / Crash on Startup

Important note:

Please be aware that Thomas Was Alone currently has compatibility issues with Android devices on 7.0 or higher. Users on this version of the OS will likely experience a crash to the home screen when attempting to run the app.

We are currently working on a fix for this. However, if you'd prefer not to wait and want a refund please contact us with your Order Number. This is emailed to you as a receipt or you can find it by logging into your account at payments.google.com.

Updating Android

Please make sure you're running the latest version of Android - to do this:

To check for and install available Android updates:

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. You'll usually find this at the very bottom of the main Settings screen, under System
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap About phone or About tablet > System updates
  4. Tap Check for update. If an update is available, tap Download

Updating the Thomas Was Alone App on Google Play

To update apps individually or in bulk using the Google Play Store app on your mobile device:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app 
  2. Tap Menu then head to My apps & games
  3. Apps with an update available updates are labelled Update
  4. Tap Update All to update all apps. For individual apps, find the specific app you want to update and tap Update

Troubleshooting

Do you have issues running any other games or applications too? It may help to ensure that the only demanding application your device is running is Thomas was Alone, close any other non-essential applications down.

Firstly, it might help to clear out cache data and long running processes by performing a hard reset or potentially clearing out your device's cache. To do this:

  • Go to Settings
  • The Application Manager
  • Find Thomas was Alone
  • Then Storage
  • Hit the clear data and clear cache buttons

Secondly, uninstalling and reinstalling the game might help, there could have been a problem with data corruption in the download process. 

To uninstall an application purchased or otherwise installed from the Google Play Store simply do the following:

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. Tap Apps or Application manager
  3. Tap the app you want to uninstall - in this case Thomas was Alone. You may need to scroll to find the app.
  4. Tap Uninstall or Disable

To reinstall a previously purchased app

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Touch Menu My Apps and games > All
  3. Touch the app you want to reinstall.
  4. Touch Install or Enable.
